Meet The True Gifts Of Life!

Reading the Ayah, “The truth is from your Lord, so never be among the doubters.” (2:147), makes one think how can a believer dare look for the truth beyond the book of Allah (swt). Is it not one’s own eyes that fail to always convey the truth? And Allah (swt) is the All Knowing; “He knows that which deceives the eyes and what the breasts conceal. And Allah judges with truth, while those they invoke besides Him judge not with anything. Indeed, Allah, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.” (40:19-20).

Therefore it is wise to look for the elements that lead to the wholeness of the being and the fulfillment of life in the words of Allah (swt). These elements are indeed the true favors which one needs to seek with an attentive ear and a mindful heart. The seeking here is more of a journey of understanding, believing and trusting.

We know by fact that it is in the nature of a human being to greatly appreciate a gift when he/she is deprived from it. Ask the diseased one about the gift of health, or the poor one about the gift of wealth. However, the only situation in one’s existence that can reveal the true needed gifts in this journey of life is at the moment of death!

The only honest, sincere, and precise view of one’s entire life happens at this particular moment. Everything around seems silent, and all the events of the entire life are winding on before the eyes, like a film! The elements that are longed for in this moment are the true gifts that every soul needs to help find coherence in the system, peace in the heart, and the true sense of the purpose in life.

Listen then to the dying ones:

"Until, when death comes to one of them, he says: "My Lord! Send me back, That I might do righteousness in that which I left behind." No! It is only a word he is saying; and behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected." (23:99-100).

"And spend [in the way of Allah] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous.” But never will Allah delay a soul when its time has come. And Allah is Acquainted with what you do." (63:10-11).

Yes indeed, righteous actions are the ultimate gift needed to achieve all true dreams; tranquility and happiness, peace and integrity, and bliss unto the eternity.

Listen to the supplication of a learned one, rooted in knowledge, the prophet Suleiman (peace be upon him), " "My Lord! Inspire and bestow upon me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favors which You have bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may do righteous good deeds that will please You, and admit me by Your Mercy among Your righteous slaves." " (27:19).

Having understood with certitude the needed gift; one must then work on the belief in the purpose, which will encourage him/her to always race for the righteous actions. This purpose is the forgiveness from Allah (swt), which is better than having the whole earth filled with gold. Indeed only the forgiveness can save from the chastisement of the doom of hell.

“Verily, those who disbelieved, and died while they were disbelievers, the (whole) earth full of gold will not be accepted from anyone of them even if they offered it as a ransom. For them is a painful torment and they will have no helpers.” (3:91).

“And if those who did wrong had all that is in the earth entirely and the like of it with it, they would [attempt to] ransom themselves thereby from the worst of the punishment on the Day of Resurrection. And there will appear to them from Allah that which they had not taken into account.” (39:47)…

AlHamdulillah the month of forgiveness is approaching, to set right our purpose.

May Allah make us reach Ramadan.
